most cafes say “pet friendly” on google but when you show up with your dog, the staff looks at you like you brought a tiger. or they have one tiny corner near the toilet and call it the “pet area.”

i don’t have a dog. but i’m usually the friend who volunteers to go to dog-friendly places because honestly, dogs improve every cafe experience. having a golden retriever under the table while you drink coffee? that’s peak living.

1. the french window patisserie

koregaon park / rs 1200 for two / 9/10

the gold standard for pet-friendly cafes in pune.

the outdoor seating area is spacious and shaded. water bowls are already placed when you arrive with a dog. the staff doesn’t just tolerate pets, they actively engage. i’ve seen the barista come out to pet a regular’s golden retriever.

the food is french-inspired and excellent. croissants, pastries, good coffee. the smoking area is separate from the pet area which is thoughtful. the crowd is chill, international, and nobody bats an eye at dogs.

my friend brings her lab here every saturday morning. the lab has a favorite spot by the window. the staff knows the dog’s name. that’s the level of pet-friendly we’re talking about.

2. pagdandi books chai cafe

baner / rs 400 for two / 9/10

my overall #1 cafe in pune (see full review) is also pet-friendly. the outdoor section is perfect for dogs. the vibe is so calm that even anxious dogs relax here.

the book-cafe atmosphere means the crowd is quiet. no sudden loud noises. no chaos. dogs can actually chill instead of being on edge.

the chai is excellent. the kashmiri kawa is perfect. and at rs 400 for two, it’s the most affordable pet-friendly cafe that’s actually worth visiting.

what to order: kashmiri kawa, cheese sandwich, masala chai verdict: best budget pet-friendly cafe. books, chai, and your dog. what else do you need?

3. the flour works

kalyani nagar / rs 1400 for two / 8.5/10

the best food on this list, also pet friendly. the two-level layout has outdoor seating on both levels. dogs are welcome in the outdoor sections. water bowls available.

the brunch here is the best in pune (covered in my brunch guide). so you’re getting excellent food and getting to bring your dog. that’s a win-win.

the morning crowd is especially dog-friendly. weekend brunch at the flour works with a dog at your feet? that’s the dream.

what to order: ricotta pancakes, eggs benedict, fresh juice verdict: best food + best pet-friendly combo. bring the dog to brunch.

4. elephant & co

camp / rs 1600 for two / 8/10

the outdoor section is large, well-shaded, and perfect for dogs. the colonial-era aesthetic extends to the outdoor area. it feels like a garden party.

water bowls on request. the staff is accommodating but you need to ask. the bar menu is excellent. good whisky selection with a dog at your feet? very british, very camp.

what to order: whisky, mutton pepper fry, beer verdict: best bar-style pet-friendly spot. evening drinks with your dog.

5. hoppipola

koregaon park / rs 1200 for two / 7.5/10

the rooftop seating is pet-friendly. the space is decent. the crowd is young and generally fine with dogs. the drinks are reasonably priced.

the food is average but the vibe is fun. more of a party spot that happens to allow pets rather than a cafe designed for pet owners.

what to order: beer, nachos, chicken wings verdict: fun pet-friendly option. rooftop drinks with your dog.

6. the daily all day

koregaon park / rs 2000 for two / 7.5/10

upscale pet-friendly. the outdoor area is elegant. water bowls are provided. the crowd is mature and dog-friendly. the wine selection is the best in pune.

7. butter brews

baner / rs 800 for two / 7.5/10

comfortable pet-friendly option in baner. both indoor and outdoor seating. the staff is warm and welcoming to pets. the desserts are rich and the coffee is decent.

not the most exciting cafe but reliably pet-friendly. my friend’s beagle loves the outdoor area.

8. cafe durga

kothrud / rs 150 for two / 7/10

cafe durga has a large outdoor area where dogs are allowed. no water bowls, no special treatment. but the space is big, the crowd is casual, and nobody minds.

the cold coffee at rs 25 means you can bring your dog for a walk, stop for coffee, and spend rs 75 total. that’s the most affordable pet-friendly outing in pune.

what to order: cold coffee (rs 25), sandwich verdict: cheapest pet-friendly outing. large space, casual vibes.

9. green dot

baner / rs 600 for two / 7/10

vegetarian cafe with outdoor seating that allows pets. the food is decent. the space is clean. water on request.

verdict: decent veg pet-friendly option in baner.

10. pagdandi viman nagar

viman nagar / rs 500 for two / 7/10

the viman nagar outpost of pagdandi. smaller than the baner original but still pet-friendly. the outdoor section is limited but available.

verdict: pet-friendly option near the airport. the baner one is better.
