tldr: out of 12 salons, my top picks are b:blunt (best overall cuts), alchemic beauty studio (best for curly hair, 4.9 stars), and juice salon baner (best value premium). spent about rs 25k testing services across all 12. full reviews with prices and honest takes below.

i’ve had some truly terrible haircuts in pune.

like, the kind where you walk out and immediately put on a cap. the kind where the stylist says “trust me” and you end up looking like you lost a bet.

after years of trial and error (and one disastrous bleaching incident i’d rather not talk about), i’ve figured out which salons in pune are actually good, which are overpriced, and which ones you should avoid entirely.

this isn’t a sponsored list. nobody paid me. i’m just someone who’s been to way too many salons and has opinions about all of them.

premium salons (worth the splurge)

1. b:blunt

koregaon park / men’s cut: rs 800 / women’s cut: rs 1,200 / coloring: rs 3,000+ / 9/10

b:blunt salon koregaon park pune image: unsplash

the most consistently good salon i’ve been to in pune. every single time, the stylist actually listens. they don’t just nod and do whatever they want. the consultation before cutting is real, not performative.

the koregaon park outlet is spacious, never feels rushed. coloring work is excellent, especially highlights and balayage. they use their own product line which is genuinely good.

the catch: expensive. a women’s cut + color + blowdry can easily cross rs 5,000. weekend wait times are brutal, always book in advance. weekday mornings are the sweet spot.

verdict: best all-round salon in pune. if you can afford it, this is your go-to.

2. alchemic beauty studio

shivaji nagar (chambers 63) / haircut: rs 1,000-1,500 / coloring: rs 4,000+ / 9/10

alchemic beauty studio pune image: unsplash

if you have curly hair, stop reading and just go here. 4.9 stars from 300+ reviews and every single one is deserved.

they specialize in curly hair, which in india means they actually understand that curly hair needs different cutting techniques. no straightening before cutting. no “let me just thin it out.” they know what they’re doing.

the studio is on the 5th floor of chambers 63. small, intimate, appointment-only. stylist isha is phenomenal. the products they use are curl-friendly (no sulfates, no silicones).

the catch: appointment-only and usually booked 1-2 weeks out. not cheap. but for curly/wavy hair, there’s literally no better option in pune.

verdict: best salon for curly hair in pune. not even close.

3. tony & guy

koregaon park / men’s cut: rs 1,000 / women’s cut: rs 1,500 / coloring: rs 4,000+ / 8/10

tony and guy salon pune image: unsplash

the international chain that actually delivers. stylists here go through proper training (london-based curriculum), and it shows in the precision of cuts. the consultation process is thorough.

great for fashion-forward cuts and creative coloring. the ambiance is sleek and modern.

the catch: the most expensive option on this list. a full color treatment can hit rs 8,000-12,000 easily. but if you want a transformative cut, this is where you go.

verdict: best for creative, fashion-forward cuts. premium price, premium result.

mid-range salons (good value)

4. juice salon

baner, kothrud / men’s cut: rs 600 / women’s cut: rs 800 / coloring: rs 2,500+ / 8.5/10

juice salon baner pune image: unsplash

one of india’s trendiest chains and the pune outlets hold up. the baner branch (prabhavee tech park, balewadi high street) is my preferred one. 4.6 stars from 2,000+ reviews.

haircuts are consistently good. stylists are trained and they don’t rush you. the facials and spa treatments are solid too. hydrafacial here is popular and actually good.

the catch: can get crowded on weekends. the kothrud branch is smaller and less comfortable than baner. prices have crept up over the years.

verdict: best value premium salon. good quality without the b:blunt price tag. if you’re in baner, this is an easy pick. grab a coffee at pagdandi nearby after.

5. bizarre the salon

lullanagar / men’s cut: rs 500 / women’s cut: rs 700 / coloring: rs 2,500+ / 8.5/10

bizarre the salon pune image: unsplash

a boutique salon that punches way above its weight. 4.8 stars from 230+ reviews. known for excellent balayage and creative coloring work.

the vibe is personal, you feel like you’re going to a friend’s studio rather than a commercial salon. the colorist here is genuinely artistic.

the catch: only one location (lullanagar), which is a trek if you’re in baner or koregaon park. small space means limited appointments.

verdict: best boutique salon in pune. if balayage is your thing, go here.

6. enrich

koregaon park, hadapsar (amanora), phoenix marketcity, law college road / men’s cut: rs 500 / women’s cut: rs 700 / coloring: rs 2,200+ / 8/10

enrich salon pune image: unsplash

a reliable chain with multiple pune locations. the koregaon park branch is the best one. the nail art is excellent. hair spa starting at rs 750 is a good deal.

pro-keratin shine straight starts at rs 2,250. they also do a good lipidium reconstructor treatment from rs 1,100.

the catch: inconsistent across locations. koregaon park and phoenix are good, others can be hit or miss. ask for senior stylists specifically.

verdict: solid mid-range choice with good variety of treatments. the nail art is a standout.

7. monsoon salon

fc road / men’s cut: rs 350 / women’s cut: rs 500 / coloring: rs 1,800+ / 7/10

a local favorite on fc road. nothing fancy, but the stylists know their craft. popular with the college crowd from nearby fergusson and symbiosis.

good for straightforward cuts and basic coloring. clean, decent ambiance. they don’t oversell treatments you don’t need, which i appreciate.

the catch: small space, can feel cramped during peak hours. limited parking (fc road problems).

verdict: solid local salon. no frills, no surprises. good if you’re in the fc road area and want something reliable without the chain markup. pair it with a coffee at cafe kathaa nearby.

chain salons (reliable but predictable)

8. lakme salon

multiple locations (koregaon park, kalyani nagar, baner, viman nagar) / men’s cut: rs 400 / women’s cut: rs 600 / coloring: rs 2,000+ / 7.5/10

the most recognized salon brand in india. you know what you’re getting: clean space, standardized service, lakme products.

the koregaon park outlet at pulse mall is the best pune location. hygiene is excellent. bridal packages are popular and well-executed.

the catch: zero creativity. every haircut feels the same. the stylists follow a script. for a basic trim or touch-up, great. for anything requiring artistic judgment, look elsewhere. weekend waits can hit 45 minutes even with appointments.

verdict: safe choice for basic services. good hygiene. but if you want something special, you won’t find it here.

9. bombay hair company

viman nagar, aundh / men’s cut: rs 400 / women’s cut: rs 600 / coloring: rs 1,800+ / 7.5/10

the viman nagar outlet (opposite HDFC Bank, dutta mandir chowk) is solid for men’s grooming. 4.3 stars from 1,400+ reviews. hair spa ranges from rs 1,000 (regular) to rs 1,800 (argan oil).

good for highlights and ombre work. the men’s section is genuinely well-done.

the catch: some reviews mention surprise charges for oily hair or senior stylist fees. ask about pricing upfront before sitting in the chair. communication can be better.

verdict: good men’s salon in viman nagar. just clarify prices before you start.

10. naturals

prabhat road, kothrud / men’s cut: rs 300 / women’s cut: rs 450 / coloring: rs 1,500+ / 7/10

the budget-friendly chain. 375+ salons across india. the prabhat road outlet (opposite PNB, lane 10) is decent. 4.1 stars.

basic services are done well. bridal packages are affordable. they use their own product range which is passable.

the catch: staff turnover is high, so your favorite stylist might not be there next month. the salon interiors feel dated compared to newer chains. limited premium services.

verdict: best budget chain salon in pune. no frills, fair prices, gets the job done.

budget salons

11. green trends

multiple locations / men’s cut: rs 250 / women’s cut: rs 400 / coloring: rs 1,200+ / 6.5/10

the cheapest chain on this list. 375+ salons nationwide. hygiene is decent, they use disposable towels and gowns. stylists are certified.

the catch: wildly inconsistent quality. one visit can be great, the next can be “what happened to my hair.” the product quality is basic. this is a coin flip salon.

verdict: if you just need a quick, cheap cut and don’t want to think about it, fine. but manage your expectations.

12. the nail art studio & salon

kalyani nagar / men’s cut: rs 500 / women’s cut: rs 800 / coloring: rs 2,000+ / 7.5/10

not just nails despite the name. this kalyani nagar spot does solid haircuts and treatments. the nail art is obviously the star (intricate designs, gel extensions), but the hair services hold their own.

great for a combo appointment, get your hair done and nails done in one visit.

the catch: primarily known for nails, so the hair stylists can vary. book specifically for their senior hair stylist.

verdict: best combo salon. if you want hair + nails in one visit, this is efficient and well-done.

my honest tips

  1. always ask for the senior stylist. the price difference is rs 200-500 but the quality jump is massive. junior stylists at chains are often still learning on your head.

  2. weekday mornings are the move. less crowded, more attention, sometimes better pricing.

  3. don’t trust instagram before-afters. every salon posts their best work. ask to see the specific stylist’s portfolio, not the salon’s.

  4. for coloring, go boutique. chain salons use standardized formulas. boutique colorists custom-mix. the difference shows.

  5. negotiate annual packages. if you go to the same salon regularly, ask about loyalty pricing. most will give you 10-20% off.

the final word

pune’s salon scene has genuinely improved over the last few years. you don’t have to choose between “cheap and bad” or “expensive and okay” anymore.

if money isn’t an issue: b:blunt or tony & guy. if you want value: juice salon or enrich. if you’re on a budget: naturals. if you have curly hair: alchemic beauty studio, no question.

and if you’re killing time between appointments, check out the best coworking spaces in pune or grab a coffee at one of pune’s best work cafes.
